Repeat after me: I shop AT the grocery store, I am not THE grocery store! You are not a vending machine for snacks and definitely not a storage space for products that will end up going bad in the fridge without being used, so tell yourself, you’re not going to overbuy! In this episode, Jen and Jill read an article that shares helpful, realistic, and approachable tips for grocery shopping on a budget!
Never let anyone make you feel bad for making a budget.

Homemaking on a Budget
This article by Sydney Martin is about the strategy of a mom of three in budgeting $120 on weekly grocery budget to feed her family.
What Jen + Jill have to say:
Jen introduces Sydney, who was once a college student mom and a full-time working mom, but is now a happy stay at home mom of three kids. The entirety of the article is what Jill would describe as realistic and approachable—which we don’t often encounter. But this includes everything you need to know from grocery tips and budget meals for breakfast to dinner, as well as her entire meal plan for the week, along with tips on how she presents her meals to her family.
How She Did It
Jen and Jill thoroughly reviewed each tip and strategy that Sydney shared. One thing they emphasized was meal planning and preparation, as this provides a this will be a good foundation to save time and stick to a budget each week.
They also shared tips on what to prioritize, how to make use of digital coupons, which type of products to buy, asking your kids to help, AND most importantly setting a reminder to shop AT the grocery store and to not be THE grocery store. This boundary will help you realize what you actually need and prevent overbuying.
How often do you go grocery shopping?
Jill goes every two weeks because she doesn’t usually go outside. While Jen goes once a week but sometimes she has to go twice because her one year old loves milk—and so does the family.
