Save Money On Haircuts & Coloring

Happy Wednesday, peeps!

What makes you feel self-confident? New nails? A new outfit? For us, there’s nothing that screams “who is this diva” like a new haircut.

Today we’re sharing all our best haircut and coloring tips to have us feeling our best for the holidays, without breaking the bank! Come for the savings hacks, stay for the rebates at the end 😉

💈 How to Save Money on Cuts & Coloring

🪞 Go to a cosmetology / beauty school. This is our favorite tip for saving on all things hair related (or even make-up!) related. Students that have reached a certain level of competency are allowed to practice on the general public – often at significantly reduced rates or free.

Not only do you benefit by saving money, but the students benefit as well! Generally, a supervising instructor will be nearby in case the student has questions, so there’s little risk in scheduling an appointment with someone who’s still learning, just plan for a bit longer of an appointment!

💇🏻‍♀️ Go to a walk-in salon. Studio chains like Great Clips & Cost Cutters might not be at the top of your hair care list, but if you’re looking to save money and only need a basic trim, this is a great option!

Generally, you can get by with spending less than $25 for a split-ends trim. You don’t need to call and schedule an appointment, and unlike many salons, these studios are often open on Sundays!

🏷️ Use rebates for at-home coloring. Not everything needs to be done by a professional. Sometimes, it’s okay to DIY! Places like Evo Hair and Aveda offer rebates and discounts on quality products. Professional stylists and dermatologists also recommend using everyday products like olive oil in conjunction with your day-to-day shampoo/conditioner regimen for a DIY hair mask that works just as well as one at the salon. However, always check with your doctor before trying something new!

🔎 Do your research. There are plenty of ways to save money on basic necessities (we couldn’t fit them all in one letter!). Pre-order Jen & Jill’s book “Buy What You Love Without Going Broke” for more tips & tricks to live a frugal life! I can’t wait to curl up with this book, especially going into the new year. A cut, color, and an inspiring read? Slay.

It’s clear there are plenty of ways to save money on feeling good, and we want our expecting mamas to feel good, too!
