Must Haves For Frugal New Moms

Morning friends!

Are you a new mother, know a mom, or looking forward to motherhood in the near future?

With articles galore & targeted Facebook ads, it can be hard to differentiate between the new parent must-haves and the gimmicks.

That’s where we’re stepping in.

Jen, our resident mom of two, has made a fantastic recommendation list for the new-parent-essentials & the nice accessories to make life just a bit easier in the hectic season of new parenthood. 💖

📝 Our Top 3 Must-Haves

1. Grace for yourself. Life isn’t perfect, and neither is parenting. When you feel yourself spiraling, take a step back and get curious about the emotion you’re feeling.

Name the emotion and identify 1 way you can respond to the emotion in a compassionate manner. Take a deep breath and set realistic expectations on how to just take the next right step.

2. Accepting help from others. The proverb “it takes a village to raise a child” is true. Whether you rely on family, friends, or a trusted neighbor, it’s important to step back and let others help take care of you & your infant when they offer.

And this doesn’t just need to be holding the baby, when they ask what you need BE BOLD and tell them the dishes need cleaning, the sink could use a wipe down, the trash could go out, or the lawn can be mowed! Keeping a new child alive is a full time job in the beginning, so let others pick up the slack.

3. Sleep. We know. Hear us out. Sleep is necessary for healing, reducing symptoms of mental discomfort, & for increasing patience. Consider asking a loved one to stay the night with the baby so that you can get some well-deserved rest.

If no one you know is available, consider hiring a night nanny. These nannies take the night shift, do dishes, and feed that baby so that you can get some sleep. 💤

💡 Recs to Make Life a Little Easier

1. Comfy clothes. 👚 Business casual has no place here for the next twelve weeks. Pajamas, athleisure, and leggings all day. Jen loved these cozy pajamas for late night feedings, and the shorts + shirt combo will keep you cool all night long.

2. A good exercise program (when your doc gives the ok!) 🧘🏻‍♀️ Exercise is great for new moms! It helps energize you, boosts your mental health, and relieves stress. This app is made specifically for moms. It has breathwork, core exercises, yoga, strength training, and running programs for pregnant and postpartum moms. There’s also a post-C-Section program! 3. A college savings plan. 🎓 With the magic of compounding interest, it’s never too early to start investing in your little one’s future! Get a $29 gift added to your fund when you open an account with Backer. **
