Anyone else blown away by gas prices? My (Misti’s) nomad lifestyle has allowed me to avoid car ownership and lean into public transportation wherever possible, but I feel for all my friends headed to the gas pump lately!
To keep a little more of that money in your pocket, we’ve rounded up gas apps and loyalty rewards programs that can help you save on gas this Summer!
⛽ Tips and Apps to Help Save at the Gas Pump
Ok, honestly… our first suggestion is to re-evaluate how much time you actually need to spend in your car.
Can you safely walk or bike? Is there a slightly inconvenient, but still manageable, bus route nearby? Can you carpool?
If you’re already a rare driver, have you ever priced out how much it would cost to use rideshare apps for your infrequent outings instead of paying for your full car ownership costs (gas, oil changes, insurance, the car itself!)?
I think it’s easy to get in a routine, and living in a car-centric culture makes it so easy to answer all these questions with a “no,” but it could be a fun challenge to experiment with limiting your time on the road!
BUT if you really can’t limit your driving time, here’s three actionable strategies to help with gas prices.
1. Only shop at the least expensive gas stations in your area.If you have a warehouse club membership like Costco, you can likely find the best gas prices there. Otherwise, use an app like Gas Guru that crowdsources information on gas prices to make sure you’re getting the biggest bang for your buck!
