6 Key Benefits of Simplifying Your Life

Living a simple life doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to close your doors and spend your days alone. This article by Happiness shares practical ways to simplify your life that can give you a lot of benefits that are proven by Science.

What Jen + Jill have to say:

The main key to simplifying your life is to know about yourself. It is important to know the things you want to prioritize and your values. Jen said that figuring out your core values is essential in spending money on things you love, and saying no to things you don’t really need. This helps in boosting your bank balance and focus on priorities. Self-indulgence becomes easier when you allow yourself to have some space in learning what you love through what you believe in.

While Jill added that your lifestyle says a lot about your health. Having a non-materialistic attitude can result in more positive relationships and health outcomes.  Maintaining a healthy lifestyle does help you save money in the long run.

How to Simplify Your Life to Spend Less

Spending less money is something that you should consider. This Modern Frugality article written by Jen shows how budgeting your money can actually clear your head.

What Jen + Jill have to say:

Taking time to organize your things can help you focus in life. Jill mentioned that decluttering your home makes such a huge difference. The less clutter you have, the more you will be in a position where you can easily prioritize things you need to accomplish. The way you think and your capacity for decision-making are affected by having less physical possessions as cluttered finances can be quite overwhelming. That’s why it’s also important to pay off your debt. Simplifying your meal can also help by planning a simple menu.

For Jen, focusing is also knowing what to prioritize. If you have things in mind that you want to accomplish, it is crucial to know which one is your priority. Decreasing your social media use and learning how to say ‘No’ can be helpful in making you focus on your priorities. Choosing to work on a certain goal doesn’t mean you aren’t doing anything. Planning overnight successful stories can lead to missed lessons in life.

Something in our life that’s been hard to simplify

For Jen, social media is something that is hard to simplify in her life due to pressure from people around her. While Jill finds it hard to simplify her schedule because she realized that wanting a lot of things to be done is a personal problem.

You guys, I am not a great meal prepper.

I have chronic illness so it’s really hard for me to be on my feet for long amounts of time, and making big batches of food and then washing all the dishes usually feels super overwhelming.

But, I think I’m finally finding my stride!! A couple days ago I got several cans of refried beans, and a big stack of burrito tortillas. I already had lots of cheese and rice on hand. Made a big batch of rice, loaded up the tortillas, and now I have A WHOLE MONTHS WORTH of homemade burritos in my freezer!!! I’m so stoked!!! I also made a week’s worth of smoothies and put them in jars in the freezer. Today's mission: giant batch of spaghetti sauce!
