How to Stick to a Simple Cleaning Schedule

This article by BetterHomes & Gardens teaches us step-by-step instructions for creating a customized house cleaning schedule that we can actually stick to.

  1. Get ready. Grab a pen and paper or use your phone to jot down your tasks.
  2. Start by choosing your rooms. Walk through each one and take inventory of the areas. Write down both large and small tasks that catch your eye.
  3. Identify cleaning tasks. You can search and list all the cleaning tasks you need to perform regularly and black out those that don’t apply.
  4. Build on Your List. Start with the basics we listed!
  5. Choose frequency. Sort the tasks by how often they need to be done (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, bi-annually, and annually) to keep things simple.
  6. Identify your cleaning style. Time to decide how you want to get the tasks done whether all at once, timed sessions, or a room or two each day.
  7. Practice. As you shift your lifestyle to this routine, this is what will get you to stick to it.
  8. Stay On Track. Seasonal changes and unexpected events can throw off your routine, but give yourself grace and just reschedule for another day.
  9. Reevaluate. If you’re falling behind, re-evaluate and make your goals more realistic.

Recipes to A Home Friendly Cleaning Products

This article by spend life happy lists various cleaning products you can keep on hand year-round and use regularly. It’s natural, eco-friendly, and costs so much less.

What Jen + Jill have to say:

For an all-purpose cleaner, mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. You can add lemon peel and essential oils for extra fragrance. Jen suggests adding a teaspoon of detergent to enhance the scent. For a glass cleaner, combine 1 part vinegar to 4 parts water, and add rubbing alcohol to speed up drying time.

For a wood cleaner, just mix olive oil and lemon juice! And for killing bacterias and molds, AVC (Apple Cider Vinegar) is a must have, and if you mix it with baking soda, it can also help polish sinks, faucets, and silverware.

A cleaning product everyone should DIY

ALL OF IT for Jill. For Jen, it’s all-purpose cleaner and she recommends everyone to get a Dremel scrubber.
